was gonna blog about quantum physics and solar marine engines but time shrinks in winter (along with certain bits of my body) so here's one i wrote a little while back while some acquaintances (or comrades if you're an old-school Commie like Uncle Cliff the Bassoonist) occupied saint Paul's and a Swiss bank in Finsbury Square......
Fascism War and Profit
Murray Rothbard in his essay on liberalism writes perceptively of the nature of fascism as a private capital takeover of the feudal state. He offers the role of international private bankers in the rise of fascism as an example. From the late 19th century (Royal Belgian Congo Company genocide for profit) through the 1930’s-‘40’s (Union Banking Corporation finance for Hitler) and of course the mercenary armies hired to overthrow various Latin American governments and replace them with puppet dictators who let U.S. owned companies rape and pillage their countries; fascism has indeed been an unholy alliance between big business and vicious corrupt politics. Usually the politics of racial, ethnic, religious persecution.
Rothbard in “Left and Right”:
“…… For examples of the attractions of fascist and right-wing collectivist ideas and plans for American big businessmen in this era, see Murray N. Rothbard, America’s Great Depression (Auburn, Ala.: Mises Institute, 2000). Also cf. Gaetano Salvemini and George LaPiana, What to Do With Italy (New York: Duell, Sloan, and Pearce, 1943), pp. 65ff.
Of the fascist economy, Salvemini perceptively wrote: "In actual fact, it is the State, that is, the taxpayer who has become responsible to private enterprise. In Fascist Italy the State pays for the blunders of private enterprise. . . . Profit is private and individual. Loss is public and social." Gaetano Salvemini, Under the Axe of Fascism (London: Victor Gollancz, 1936), p. 416. …”
And Noam Chomsky has pointed out the fascist practices of federal US government in respect of corporate capital; the role of the military in footing the bill for R&D spends for new tech, e.g. jet engines, communications satellites, fibre-optic broadband, the internet… all paid for with tax dollars for “defence”, appropriated for private profit as mature technologies.
The present ‘9/11 war’ is a good example of private profit (Enron, Halliburton, Blackwater) riding the public horse … and its risks. As private profit demands secretive and jealous competition control is hard. Accountability suffers. Thus doubts exist as to prior knowledge and involvement as the U.S. federal Central Intelligence Agency was the senior partner to the Qaeda and Taliban in the anti-soviet jihad in 1980s Afghanistan/Pashtunistan; thus giving a future enemy access to vital American information and personnel and materiel. E.g. the B.anthracis strain used by Qaeda terror gangs in the US postal attack after ‘9/11’ was a research strain (attenuated and of low infectiousness with reduced lethality) developed from old US Army stock at Fort Detrick, Maryland, by CIA researchers. Intended use we presume was destabilisation/terror in covert operations against the southern Soviets (Uzbek and nearby region) where sheep and horses are important livestock. As anthrax infects sheep horses and humans a low-virulence strain would have been a useful weapon to give the Qaeda during the `80’s Afghan war. Lacking the skills to mutate it to the high-lethality mutant developed at the Porton Down and Ames labs in the UK and US in the `40’s the terror group used the tools Uncle Sam gave them.
Another one was the `Blue Book’ US Air Forces’ post World War Two survey of `flying saucer’ UFO reports. In 1953, the year George H.W. Bush went home after Korean War fighter pilot service and joined Admiral Hillenkoetter’s CIA, the CIA took over `Blue Book’ and renamed it `Project Grudge’. With carte blanche to probe aerospace research in the States for `clues’ about UFOs, the Company now had a loophole in the legal limits imposed by its charter: to wit, they could operate in the USA. They of course used Project Grudge as a roof for their assassin-drone project and got a portfolio of off-the-beaten track aerospace engineers and inventors, UFOlogists and militarists alike, for use in their schemes; the private sector now takes very handsome profits from designing, building and servicing the flying robots CIA use to blow up their renegade terrorist mercenaries and innocent bystanders in Afghanistan and Pakistan and elsewhere.
